Afforestation & Reforestation

Afforestation is the planting of trees in areas that do not have a green cover. This method contributes to more greenery. Reforestation is replanting of trees in areas that were once a forest, but destroyed or damaged currently. This method helps in bringing back the lost forest cover.

Our objective is to develop forest resources and restore tarnished forests with the support of our citizens. According to a survey conducted in the year 2019-20, the ecological balance provided by forests like preventing soil erosion, promoting biodiversity, providing livelihood etc.

L&L foundation aims afforestation under plantation model, maintenance of existing plantations, soil and moisture conservation etc. We are in the process of identifying such forest areas across Karnataka (to start with) and gradually expanding geographically.

Planting trees in a depleted or recovering forests helps to restore the ecosystem of the area, but planting trees in a barren land helps to create a new ecosystem. Most governments and institutions have used afforestation to help revert the arid and semi-arid areas to productive areas, thus contributing to broader environmental benefits.
